Special Guest Speaker Gabe Amo, Congressman in RI
Congressman Amo has dedicated his career to public service in Rhode Island and Washington, D.C. In the Biden White House, he served as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, serving as a principal liaison to mayors and local elected officials. He helped connect state and local leaders with federal resources through legislation including the American Rescue Plan, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and Inflation Reduction Act, while coordinating responses to national crises. Previously, he served as Director of Public Engagement and Community Affairs for former Governor Gina Raimondo and worked in the Obama White House as a liaison to governors and state officials.
A native of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Congressman Amo is the son of immigrants from Liberia and Ghana. The son of a nurse and a small-business owner, he grew up in a working-class family and carries with him a story of hard work, resilience, and determination. He graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Wheaton College with a B.A. in Political Science, where he was a Truman Scholar and Student Government Association president, and later attended the University of Oxford as a Marshall Scholar.
Today, Congressman Amo represents Rhode Island’s First Congressional District and is focused on serving its diverse communities. His priorities include strengthening retirement security, ending gun violence, building resilience to climate change, protecting reproductive freedom, safeguarding democracy, and expanding economic opportunity for working families. He is committed to advancing federal policies and resources that support job creation and economic growth across the district.
